Do your prescribed Duty

A soldier went to a sage and said, "I have faced death many times, defended weak, helped people in need and i know i have never done anything to be ashamed of. Yet when i see you meditating in peace, i feel like my life have no importance and i feel so inferior."

Sage replied, "I will answer you once i attend all those who came to see me, wait till then."

Soldier waited whole day, watching people go in and out for advice. He saw that sage received all of them with patience and smile on this face.

At nightfall when everyone was gone, he went to sage and said, "Can you teach me now??"

Sage invited him inside and lead him to his room. The full moon shone in the sky, and the atmosphere was one of profound tranquility.

Sage pointed towards the moon and said, 'Do you see moon??

Should moon ask why i don't shine like sun?? Is it because i am inferior to sun??"

Soldier answered, "Of course not..!! They both are different and have their own beauty. You cannot compare the two."

"Here is your answer... We are two different people and we each are fighting in our own way to serve the humanity. Light of both sun & moon are important, similarly everyone’s service as per scriptural principles are important.

Moral:

God has given each one of us an individual ability to serve the humanity. Most important is to serve others following prescribed duty, not to compare ourselves with others.
