Accommodate the flaws

When I was young, I remember one night in particular when mother had made dinner after a long, hard day at work.

She placed a plate of sabji, salad and burnt chapattis in front of my father and me.

I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed!

Yet, all father did was reached for his food, smiled at my mother and asked me how my day was at school.

I do remember watching him eating each bite of that chapatti !

When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my mother apologize to my father for burning the chapattis.

And my father responded: “Oh you do not know, I love burnt chapattis.”

Later that night, I went to say father good night and I asked him if he really liked his chapattis.

He wrapped me in his arms and said, “Your Mother had a hard day at work today and she’s really tired. And besides – a little burnt chapattis never hurt anyone!”

Lesson :

Life is full of imperfect things and imperfect people including ourselves. Learning to accommodate the flaws of people around us is a key to stable & sweet relationships.
